GOLD FAQs - 2014

What does GOLD stand for?
GOLD stands for Guiding Overseas Linked with Development. You can find out more on the webpage linked at the side of my blog.

Why Latvia?
I didn't get to chose the country I am going to, I selected the project I was most interested in from a bunch of projects which are happening across the world, with no knowledge of locations, and this happens to be the project I was given!

What are you going to be doing?
Right now, I'm not so sure. It's still early days, and all I really know is that the aims of the project are "training trainers, recruiting members and developing international guiding". I'll try and update this page when I know a bit more though!

When are you going again?
Right now, I'm not so sure! I know it will be September/October time, but due to the nature of the project, and trying to combine timings for two different organisations to get the most out of the project, it's difficult to plan. Hopefully I'll know a bit more soon though, and again, I'll update when I do!

How much are you fundraising?
I've got to fundraise around about £2000. That's £1700 for the project itself, and a little bit extra for equipment I may need (and this will be things like a decent coat or sensible sized rucksack, not just that I fancy a new shiny digital camera...)

Do I have to give you money?
Of course you don't have to! Obviously, I am grateful to everyone who can donate, but I am aware that not everyone is in that position. If you can think of any other ways to help, please let me know, or if not, I'd really just appreciate your support!
